I'll admit I'm a fan of certain "faith-based" emo artists like Dashboard Confessional, Death Cab for Cutie and The Fray, not the screamo hardcore punk artists. I own both Reset, the Mute Math ep and this full-length self-titled release which includes several of the tracks from the ep. Naturally the song "Typical" grabs me along with the video which is very unique, this year's Ok Go. I like the trend of what I'll call Christian "emo" from this past year. My favorite new releases from new artists this past year include Jackson Waters, Future of Forestry and this self-titled Mute Math album. The other standout tracks on this album are "Plan B" and "Noticed". Here is a link to the lyrics of "Noticed" mute math lyrics. If you substitute God for you this can be one of those songs that could cross seekers over to Jesus once you know that the band members are Christian.

...I always see you when my sight is lost
The variety here is plentiful, ranging from short infectious soft rock anthems to long soothing electronica pop epics. This is most certainly not the type of music that I generally listen to in my spare time, but I could not help but be drawn in by this album. The lyrics are very simple throughout, yet they still have a poignant kick to them and flow well with the music. The intricate rhythms, drum patterns, and distinct vocals all come together to form a diverse sound that is completely theirs. There is no doubt in my mind that these are some of the most talented musicians I have ever heard and this is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful and unique albums that I have ever enjoyed.
My Highlights: Stall Out, Noticed, Plan B
Racing on a fault line, bracing for a landslide
Conscious of every move getting harder
Has the race gone underwater?
I keep stalling out, I just can't keep up
There's alarming doubt, am I good enough?
But you keep coming around to convince me
It's still far from over

Mute Math is really unlike any other music out there. It's primarily rock mixed with experimental techno and Paul Meany's unique voice compliments the music perfectly. The result is amazing! The music sounds great and the lyrics are equally powerful. Each song has quickly become one of my favorites and if Mute Math continues this way they will easily become my favorite band. I can't wait for the next album.

This is a pretty good album. Besides the fact Mute Math is kind of a secular/christian band (if you know what I mean...), I love the song Typical!!

I Love this album because this is wonderfull music a mix of rock and chaotic people.

I have to say that when I was introduced by a song on this project I hurried my way to the store to by three CD's. This is a great project. It takes you to a place where it builds up your confidence to who you are in Christ. it shows you that you have Kingdom Authority and that we just want settle for anything less than that.
I really love this project great work.

I'm a fan of mute math.. but the cd suprise me.. there a normal songs.. but also songs with no singing.. and they are so beautiful. The cd has given me peace. Mute Math has done a good job.. and made themself special!
