Phoenix [edit]
by The Classic Crime | Genre: Rock | Release Date: August 14, 2012

From the bottom there is only one place to look...upward. From the pit comes opportunity for new plateaus. And from a place of seeming hopelessness a chance for inspiration results, a chance to defy the odds and rise again.

Phoenix is the band's rebirth. Conceptually, it's about the time spent in the ashes, between death and this new life as the band embarks on releasing their first independent album after leaving their major label.

Love IT!! | Posted August 15, 2012

I've loved Classic Crime since Albatross and was waiting for them to get back to that kind of sound- and they accomplished that with Phoneix. The intro alone is beautiful with it's solo guitar intro and strings in the build up. NICE! There are alot of GOOD songs on here. It's not "dark" at all. It's a solid rock album.

A Complex Album That Pays Off In the End | Posted August 14, 2012
The Classic Crime has discovered Kickstarter and have used it to their advantage in order to bring us another special gem.  Phoenix, at first glance, might throw some people off thanks in part to the track listing which includes such song titles as "Let Me Die," "Dead Rose," and "Beautiful Darkside."  It's only when you listen to the lyrics that you relize the album title makes sense with the overall theme of the album, rising from the proverbial ashes to begin anew.  The lyrics to every song are wonderfully written and reinforce the theme nicely.  The overall sound of the album, a mix between the darker sound of The Silver Cord and the more lighter Vagabonds, also reinforces the theme well.

Pheonix is a surprise in and of itself.  It might take a few listens to actually get the theme of the album but it's worth it once you do get it.
