The Joshua Tree [edit]
by U2 | Genre: Rock | Release Date: March 15, 1987

U2's big American breakthrough. Many of these songs continue to appear on greatest hits collections and many of the '80s generation (too young to be Baby Boomer, too old to be Generation X)will always think of these songs as part of the soundtrack of their teen-college years.

Hall of Fame Album | Posted August 05, 2009
This is a six star album! This CD put U2 on the world map and they have been there ever since. Every song on the album is great. I Still Haven't Found What I am Looking For is one of my all time favorite songs. This CD influences so many bands to this day. It is worth the price!

The Dream of America that could have been | Posted August 07, 2007
I am always amazed that U2 albums are not sold in most Christian stores. While many will debate the "religiosity" of the individual band members, the message of their music cannot be ignored or denied.

The Joshua Tree was the band's first major American breakthrough, and rightly so. The album presents a vision of America as seen through the eyes of non-Americans, a vision of what could have been.

From the haunting opening chords of "Where the Streets have No Name", though the southern-gospel inspired "I Still haven't Found What I'm Looking For", the songs practically beg for the idealistic America where God rules and we could be the Heaven on Earth that many wishfully think we are.

Other songs "With or Without You" and "Running to Stand Still" explore the challenge of living a faith in a broken world of sex and drugs.

As a whole, one of the best albums out there. 5 stars without a doubt.

One of the biggest albums ever | Posted August 07, 2007
When the album came out I was shocked by the marvellous music and almost bought directly the album. Later I reckonized the meaning of the songs and this made it an even bigger album.

Gospel music, but sold as normal popmusic. I wonder how many people have been inspired by U2 to go to Jesus
