Overdressed [edit]
by Caedmon's Call | Genre: AC/Inspo | Release Date: August 28, 2007

Overdressed is a 12 song CD collection unlike any other Caedmon's Call record, organically acoustic with emphasis on rhythm while maintaining cleverly-written lyrics. All songs were co-wrote between Andrew Osenga, Randall Goodgame, Derek Webb and Webb's wife, musician Sandra McCracken.

"The title Overdressed comes from lyrics in the song 'Trouble,'" says Derek Webb. "It talks about how, if I'm honest, all my best attempts at being good are a real mess. Just like the Garden of Eden, I try to cover myself with so many different things. So, when I'm with Him, I feel so overdressed."

2nd Best Caedmon's Call Album | Posted October 12, 2007
I pre-ordered this album because I learned Derek Webb was back with Caedmon's after I'd become a bigger Derek fan than Caedmon's in the last 4 years. His return is well-timed as this is Caedmon's 2nd best album overall after "40 Acres" in my opinion. I love the diversity of songs and my favorites are "There Is A Reason", "Sacred" and "Trouble". Andrew Osenga is also a great songwriter and this is a solid album overall.

Who's voice is that? | Posted December 16, 2008
That was the question I had so I looked in the album booklet and was like, "Dude Derek Webb is back with them... sweet." So needless to say this is a better release then they have had in a while.

Back In The Fold | Posted June 13, 2008
The old and the new come together to great effect in this latest offering from Caedmon's Call. Great to see Derek Webb back with the band and Andy Osenga coming to the fore. Great musicianship and good songwriting, though Danielle Young was underused vocally. The best song by far isn't on the official release but on the pre-release copy. Ten Thousand Angels is the best Christian song written by anyone anywhere ever!!

Finally! | Posted September 18, 2007
Finally Caedmon's Call is back to their roots! Over the past few years I have lost interest in their music, so I was a little leary about Overdressed. To my surprise, Overdressed takes us back to the days of listening to 40 Acres and their other earlier work, especially with the contribution of Derek Webb. Some of the songs have a newer sound with Andrew Osenga on lead vocals, but it is a refreshing addition. If you like Caedmon's earlier sound, then I think you will be pleased with this album.

Three stars for Dereks 3 songs! | Posted September 12, 2007
I used to be a huge Caedmons Call fan and have all their old music. A couple of yeasrs ago, however, they lost one of their best members in Derek Webb, and really never did a whole lot worth my ear or money after that point. Derek did go out on his own and with the aid of his wife, Sandra McCracken (incredible singer/songwriter) put out several albums that just got better and better as they came. While Derek was enjoying success and actually making music that challenged people, there was Caedmons Call, out on a limb, writing snoozer music with 1,4, and 5 chords. Well, they finally got wise, and not only asked Derek to come and help on their latest album, but they also asked his wife to come and help as well. GOOD IDEA, I thought. Well, I listened through the album last night in my car, and oddly enough, I was not very impressed. There were about 4 songs that I really enjoyed, and guess what, 3 of those 4 were written by Derek and Sandra. Go figure!! Anyway, you can go buy the album if you like, but I would suggest spending $4 on itunes for the 4 good tracks on the album
1.Trouble
6.Share the Blame
10.All accross the western world
4. expectations

They're Back! | Posted August 31, 2007
Wow - Caedmon's Call is back with a vengeance! I love this group but thought that they might be on their way out after Derek Webb left & their slightly lack-luster couple recent albums (though they were still great). But hey, a new distribution deal with INO & the return of Derek seem to have breathed new life into this group again. The lyrics are incredible, thanx to Webb, Osenga, & Randall Goodgame. And the sound - proves they still have a lot of miles in them. Way to go C.C.!
