Logan Leasure: "What albums are you waiting for? Sound off below in the comments and make sure to keep your browser locked on NRT for all the latest!"
With another year behind us, we turn our focus and attention to what is shaping up to be another great start to a new year. David Crowder Band got the party started last week and there are plenty of releases to look forward to as we head into the end of January, February and beyond.
These are the 10 releases I'm highly anticipating, but there are many more coming which can keep track of on NRT's Coming Soon Release Schedule. What albums are you waiting for? Sound off below in the comments and make sure to keep your browser locked on NewReleaseTuesday.com for all the latest on what's new (and coming soon) in Christian music!
1. Kari Jobe – Where I Find You – January 24, 2012
The return of the familiar voice of worship, singer Kari Jobe, with a new album is certainly something to be excited about. In what is undoubtedly one of the best ways to kick off the winter/spring 2012 album release cycle, Where I Find You will hopefully find us pressing the repeat button.
2. The Fray – Scars & Stories – February 7, 2012
It’s hard to think of a time when The Fray has ever really failed their fans. After giving this upcoming record a preview with the release of the single “Heartbeat” in late 2011, they only increased the immense anticipation that already exists. It’ll be interesting to hear what these Denver alternative rockers have in store for us this time around on Scars & Stories.
3. Audrey Assad – Heart – February 14, 2012
Even at this early stage in Audrey Assad’s career, I often find myself wondering if anyone else in the Christian market matches the pure beauty of her voice. Embarking on only her second studio release, Assad seems destined to win more and more people over, adding to her already successful journey in Christian music.
4. Kutless – Believer – February 28, 2012
These alternative rockers are, if anything, an industry staple. That being said, I really have no idea what to expect for this new release. Whatever it is, though, it seems only likely that it’ll be worth a few good listens, if not many.
5. Fireflight – Now – March 6, 2012
Female-led rockers Fireflight have become veterans at what they do, and every record they put out seems to have more and more hype. Now is said to be a “call to action” and promises to be “packed with more energy and heart than any Fireflight record to date.” Will it deliver? I wouldn’t doubt it.
6. Dave Barnes – Stories to Tell – March 13, 2012
Not only does Dave Barnes have a seriously passionate fan base to brag about, but he also wrote one of the most successful songs of 2011 (Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You”). In an album that Barnes has described as a “stylistic departure from his previous releases,” I can’t wait to hear what he has to offer with Stories to Tell.
7. Sidewalk Prophets – Live Like That – March 27, 2012
Their single “You Love Me Anyway” helped them make their mark in Christian music, so it’s certainly welcome news to see that Sidewalk Prophets are ready for a new release. In what will be an effort to avoid the sophomore slump, Live Like That will hopefully exceed expectations and the title track and first single is already charting well at radio.
8. MercyMe – The Hurt and The Healer – April 24, 2012
While it almost seems like yesterday since MercyMe put out their last record, The Generous Mr. Lovewell (its been almost two years already), no one would ever want to turn down a new record from one of the industry’s most beloved groups. I’m always looking forward to seeing what they have up their sleeves, and that certainly isn’t changing this time around.
9. Jon McLaughlin – Promising Promises – May 22, 2012
I saw Jon McLaughlin perform in Nashville this past October, and if it did anything, seeing him live not only confirmed his talent, but also the fact that I am truly a fan of his. This will be McLaughlin’s first release on Razor & Tie Records, and with the first single, “Summer is Over,” which features Sara Bareilles, already going strong, Promising Promises sure seems to be a promising record.
10. Sixpence None the Richer – TBA – Unknown Release Date
There is no greater uncertainty than the timing of this release, and seemingly many of the releases, that Sixpence puts out. We’ve heard rumors of a March release date, rumors of a fall 2012 release date, and rumors of no release at all. And as to the name of this mysterious record? That’s all hearsay as well. The only thing we can confirm is that whatever it is and whenever it releases, there is little chance that it will disappoint.
