Evans Blue came together in early 2005. Five musicians, then in three separate bands, met through a local musician's message board. Lead singer Kevin Matisyn suggested the name, which refers to the dye that is injected into the bloodstream to measure blood volume, which he had read in one of his medical books. The band then caught the attention of producer Trevor Kustiak and his partner Mari Dew, of The Pocket Studios.
They recorded three demo songs, titled Black Hole, Saturnalia and Starlight, all of which were available on their personal MySpace page. Updates on the bands' progress and prose by lead singer, Matisyn are periodically given via the MySpace blogs.
Evans Blue is a "post-grunge" band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, founded in 2005. The name comes from a type of dye injected into the bloodstream to measure blood volume, reportedly suggested by the lead singer Kevin Matisyn. The band features Parker Lauzon on rythm guitar, Vlad Tanaskovic as lead guitar, Joe Pitter on bass guitar and Howard Davis on drums.
They began with a single titled "Cold (But I'm Still Here)" and then proceded to produce two albums: The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume and The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal of Life Ends. They are currently working on production of their third album.
Updates are avalible on their MySpace page.
Matisyn, of Evans Blue, and Nixon, of Framing Hanley, performed two live, acoustic shows in February 2008 in a project called 'Parabelle.' They performed on Monday February 25, 2008 at On The Rocks in Nashville Tennessee. The next night, February 26, they did another performance at Scout Bar in Houston Texas.
June 2008 - Evans Blue has been dropped by Hollywood Records according to some sites. They also list Record Label: None - on their MySpace. Per Matisyn's personal MySpace Page, he blogs that the band had the chance to opt out of its record deal and they jumped at it.
On July 28, 2008 Matisyn posted on his MySpace page that he is "Formerly of Evans Blue." This was confirmed by Evans Blue on their Myspace page. Parker Lauzon of the band sent out a Myspace bulletin clarifying that Matisyn was voted out of the band due to his inability to make good decisions for the band. In the bulletin Parker is quoted stating that "We did not choose anyone over him he was simply voted out, not only because of musical differences but business differences as well. He simply was not making good decisions for this band anymore and we as a group have decided to move on."
