Modern Dissent purposes to use musical expression to encourage people from all background to think hard about Jesus Christ with the hope that they would follow and worship Him.

Modern Dissent consists of:

Modern Dissent began in the spring of 2007 with one goal: To use musical expression to encourage people from all backgrounds to think hard about Jesus Christ with the hope that they would follow and worship him.

Modern Dissent is a 4 piece band based out of Spokane, WA. They consist of Bob Delateur on guitars and vocals, Paul Weber on drums, Seth Weber on guitar and keyboards, and Joe Sousa on bass.

In the winter of 2007 Modern Dissent decided to try and record a few tracks and see what happened. What happend was a 6 month process of recording, editing, re-recording, mixing, more recording, more mixing and editing, etc. What came out of this long process was “Rise Me Up With You”, Modern Dissent’s first album. It consists of 10 original songs ranging from the crunchy guitar driven “My Pestilant Life” and “Makin’ Me” to the melodic “Strength of Meekness” and “Pulling Me Through”. With lyrics written to honor and glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Modern Dissent wants others to hear the lyrics and think about Christ and this would draw them into a saving relationship with Him.

After this Project they gigged around the area for a year or so, playing for college events, fairs, churches from Port Angeles to Republic, and Youth events all around Spokane, all the while working on writing new music. After they had written enough songs to start another album, they were forced to make a change as Corey stepped down as the lead singer, but decided to go ahead with the project, putting Bob in the vocal position.

The time it took to record their first project seems short compared to their second project, “My Greatest Show,” which took a year and a half to record, mix, master and produce. This second CD is another album with the goal of bringing people to saving faith in Christ, but also challenges believers to strengthen their faith and take a real hard look at their walk with Christ. Over all, the album has more confluence musically, unlike the first project which was more of an experiment to see what would happen and what type of music fit the band. This CD of course has Bob DeLateur on lead vocals, and he has filled the role excellently.

Modern Dissent plans to continue to play around the Northwest and challenge people from all backgrounds to think hard about their relationship with Christ.
