Two-time Gospel Music Association Covenant Award nominee Dan Macaulay has duel passions: leading worship and writing songs that help others worship. After five years on the road full time, primarily in Canada, he and wife Danielle have found a joyful balance, for the last 3 years, in splitting their time between leading worship at Harvest Time Church in Greenwich, CT and touring.
In 2008 Dan debuted in the U.S. with "The Listening EP" produced by Nathan Nockels (Chris Tomlin, Passion, Tim Hughes). Two of those three tracks "Listening" and "Amazing" landed at #1 on the Canadian AC CANCON radio chart and had lengthy runs as two of the most played songs on Canadian Christian radio in 2009. The third song on the EP "Win With Love" was included in Worship Leader Magazine's Song DISCovery resource for cutting edge worship music. "Listening" was nominated for Contemporary Pop Song of the Year and "Amazing" was nominated as Worship Song of the Year at the 2009 GMA Covenant Awards (Canadian equivalent of the GMA Dove Awards). Both songs will be included on Dan's upcoming full-length album "From You For You."
"From You For You" is set to drop in March 2012 on the heels of the release of the Christmas single "Hope is Here." With a plethora of dirge-like Christmas songs in existence, Dan penned "Hope Is Here" as a joyful pop-infused holiday track. "A lot of people are depressed at Christmas and "Hope Is Here" points to Christ as the hope of the world," Dan says. "Hope Is Here" has been a part of congregations' Christmas celebrations all around the world this past year and has been a top seller at PraiseCharts.com where it spent 2 weeks as the #1 top selling chord chart on the site in November 2011.
Dan Macaulay triples as a songwriter, an artist, and a worship leader, but he is firm on what is most important to him: "My favorite thing is leading worship and looking out and seeing people have a moment with God... moments at the altar praying. It really moves me. Seeing that is the reward for me. That's what matters."
