Writer/Producer/Musician Matthew J Doughty (Fleetwood Mac, The Killers, Econoline Crush) began his discography with a hit. Canadian band Stabilo Boss travelled nearly 1000 miles from Vancouver, BC to California to record their debut, self-titled album. Shortly thereafter, they were winning Radio contests with their single "Everybody", signed to a major label, and opening for bands like Coldplay. Since then, Doughty has worked for names like Syliva Massy (Aerosmith, Johnny Cash, Tool), Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac, Chris Isaak, Michelle Branch), and Joe Johnston (Cake, Deftones, Silversun Pickups) in world-class studios all across the United States.
In addition to his International Credits, Matthew has studied songwriting under some of the biggest names in the industry. Living and working on Nashville's Music Row brought Matthew many opportunities. One of the greatest was the months spent studying under 2008 Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame Inductee, Tom Shapiro (Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, Jennifer Lopez). Two years later in Los Angeles, Doughty had the privilege of working for Grammy-winning lyricist & UCLA songwriting professor Marty Panzer (Barry Manilow, Julio Iglesias, Disney). After completing his BBA in Music Business from Belmont University, he spent more than three years in lighting/sound/video at Disney supporting some of the world's brightest stars. Now, an ASCAP Publisher/Writer, Matthew J Doughty works daily on building a catalog of fresh, marketable songs for all genres, and developing young writers and artists for the stage and studio.
Matthew is the kingpin behind A Blinding Light (ABL). His creative vision, ingenuity and technical savvy has launched ABL and theentitymusic.com into the forefront of modern worship and pop! Matthew is also the bassist and co-songwriter for Harvest Time Worship (HTW), an up and coming worship brand that is fronted by Cindi Benzel and Jacob Castanon.
A Blinding Light's 2nd half is Chad Benzel. Inspired by the music of Dave Matthews, Foo Fighters, and U2; Chad has been a multi-instrumentalist, writer, and music producer for over twelve years. Beginning his musical career in his parent's church (Harvest Time Church of Lincoln), Chad has performed the guitar and bass guitar in worship settings all across the country. Branching out and honing his skills at guitar as well as audio engineering, Benzel's ear for the aggressive approach pushes ABL's sound to the edges of rock and pop. Chad is also the lead guitarist and co-songwriter for HTW.
