My name is Tiki McPherson and in November of 1996 I was invited by a friend to a "Revival" and became a born again Christian; I had just celebrated my 40th birthday. As a child of the 70's, I was living a very self indulgent existence that included the classic "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" lifestyle; my way of dealing with life's hurts and disappointments. I was not a musician although I played a little guitar and if I got drunk enough I would entertain friends with a few classic Eagles tunes. For years after my rebirth I tried to walk away from my bad habits, but just couldn't do it.
One evening while driving home from happy hour, I passed a church and the marquee out front said; "why settle for just a happy hour when you can have a happy eternity". The message captured my attention and I soon visited this church called "Journey of Faith". It was now nine years later and Christmas Eve of 2005. The service included a wonderful choir that I was drawn to immediately. I called the church and joined the choir right away. In April of 2006 I sang at my first church service. I had several beers and some pot the night before, so I showed up with a bit of a hangover. That morning I felt the conviction and amazing presence of the Holy Spirit. I sang through three services and then went home with a very heavy heart. As I was sitting on my sofa, with head in hands, I looked up and saw a letter from the church worship leader. The letter was welcoming me to the choir and also stating how our walk on stage should resemble our walk in the world. I was such a hypocrite! As I was weeping, I got down on my knees and prayed for God to please take away my addiction; I could not do it...I needed Him to help me. He heard and answered my prayers! That was the first day of my sobriety and I have now been clean and sober ever since.... 7 years!
Since then I have enjoyed monthly services with my new choir family and also an added blessing... I became a songwriter for Christ! Before being saved I had tried to write songs, but nothing... there was no passion... no purpose. But the passion of the Christ inspired me with songs that I started sharing with the church during Sunday services, Bible Studies, and outreach activities. I started recording them and in July of 2012 I released the CD "Saved by Grace". I now share this folk rock style CD and the message of the Gospels anywhere I can; I am an evangelist for Jesus and my pulpit is behind my guitar. What a fun way to be called to serve!
Sincerely and with much Love,
Tiki...a sinner saved by grace
