J. M. Hochstetler focuses on writing historical fiction. Her first two books are Daughter of Liberty and Native Son, books 1 and 2 of the American Patriot Series set during the American Revolution. Book 3, Wind of the Spirit, will release in January 2009. Hochstetler has published one contemporary, One Holy Night (April 2008), that retells the Christmas story in a modern-day setting. She is currently working on a fictional treatment of the story of her ancestors, Amish Mennonites who immigrated to this country from Europe in 1757, only to be caught up in the French and Indian War when their home was attacked by Indians. Because of their pacifistic beliefs, three members of the family were massacred and three were carried away into captivity, only to return years later.
Hochstetler lives with her husband in the Nashville, Tennessee area, where she was an editor with The United Methodist Publishing House for twelve years. A full-time writer and publisher, she enjoys camping, crafts, and gardening whenever she has spare time.
