Jan is the author of the Live Free series of non-fiction books (Standard Publishing), launched in 2007 with Scars That Wound, Scars That Heal—A Journey Out of Self-Injury, a 2008 ECPA Christian Book Award finalist. Other titles in the series include Seduced by Sex, Saved by Love—A Journey Out of False Intimacy, released Spring 2008, and Eyes Online, Eyes On Life—A Journey Out of Online Addictions, Fall 2008.

Passionate about giving hope . . . changing the story, Jan Kern writes and speaks to teens, young adults, and those who care about them, confident that out of pain and brokenness freedom and fullness can be found. Her writing and speaking are natural extensions of the many work and ministry opportunities she has had to encourage and mentor teens, young adults, and families, including twenty-seven years working alongside her husband, Tom, at a ministry for at-risk youth.
