Travis Thrasher is the author of eight works of fiction, with two more novels scheduled for release in 2008. It was during third grade after a teacher encouraged him in his writing and as he read through The Narnia Chronicles by C.S. Lewis that Travis decided he wanted to be a writer. The dream never left him, and allowed him to fulfill that dream of writing fulltime in 2007.
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Travis spent his youth growing up in various parts of the world: Sydney, Australia; Munich, Germany; Libertyville, Illinois; Schroon Lake, New York; and Asheville, North Carolina. In ninth grade, while living on a mountaintop high in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, Travis wrote and finished his first work of fiction.
His family moved one final time to Wheaton, Illinois during his junior year of high school. After graduating from Timothy Christian High School, Travis attended Trinity Christian College and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Nine months later, still with the dream and goal of being a writer in mind, he began working at Tyndale House Publishers in the role of Author Relations.
Over the next thirteen years, Travis became a leader in the industry in this unique field. His enthusiasm for people and publishing combined with his care and concern for relationships made him perfectly suited for the area of author relations. He developed strong relationships with key, bestselling authors including Jerry Jenkins, Francine Rivers, Tim LaHaye, Gary Chapman, Kevin Leman, and many others.
After writing and trying to find publication for seven dark, literary novels, Travis sat down in January, 1998 and wrote a simple love story in the vein of Nicholas Sparks’ The Notebook. The story that resulted was The Promise Remains, a sweet love story that Publishers Weekly called “one of the nicest surprises in CBA fiction.” This was the start of a promising and diverse writing career.
Over the past decade, determined to never repeat the same old formula, Travis has written novels in several genres including suspense, adventure, and drama. He strives not to be put into an artistic box, both with his faith and with his stories. His most personal and perhaps his deepest work, Sky Blue, was published in summer of 2007. The following year will see the publication of an adventure novel, Out of the Devil’s Mouth, and a supernatural thriller, Isolation.
In September, 2007, Travis made the decision to leave Tyndale and focus on his writing fulltime. His ideas are numerous, and he continues to strive to get better with each novel along with exploring various stories. His hope is to build a readership that will follow him down whatever path he goes, whether it’s serious or funny or romantic or scary.
Travis is married to Sharon and they are the proud parents of Kylie, born in November, 2006, and Hailey, a Shih-Tzu that looks like an Ewok. They live in suburban Chicago.
