If a childhood could be reconstructed from memories stuffed in faded boxes, the stacks of tattered notebooks in those of Allison M. Simon render images of a ten-year-old girl scribbling furiously at every opportunity. The barely legible pencil may have begun to fade, but never her love of storytelling, of immersing herself and readers in mind-bending plots and introducing them to complex three-dimensional characters.
Allison’s writing flows naturally from her personality, honest and intense, intelligently fusing darkness and compassion even in the earliest years. Always a pensive soul, her fascination with the human mind and awareness of the shadows resting in the recesses of even the most stable ones, led her to pursue a degree in Psychology where she graduated summa cum laude from Messiah College with departmental honors in 2004. Her creative pursuits also include music and songwriting which exhibit the same dark intensity and compassion for the forgotten suffering as her books. In addition to writing music, she plays three instruments, including the harp which she has studied since age seven.
Allison currently works full-time to help support her family, but continues to write voraciously in her limited free time, sharing her novels with friends, family, and acquaintances who eagerly await the latest installments. In addition to this site and a corresponding blog on blogspot.com, she also authors a tongue-in-cheek blog for her “basement rock band,” Penchant for Red. Her first completed novel, Case Study, will be available soon on Amazon.com.
Acknowledging that her hobby has become a passion, Allison longs for the day when her passion can become a career.
