Dianne Christner writes from her home in Phoenix, Arizona. But the setting for her new series is Plain City, Ohio, where she met and married her husband Jim. Raised Mennonite, when Christner writes, she invites her readers to Fall in Love the Mennonite Way. Although she is no longer a member of the Mennonite church, she admires the Mennonite people for their many commendable attributes and alludes to these in her fiction. Like the Amish, whose roots evolve from the Mennonite faith, they exemplify a simple lifestyle structured around family and community. But unlike the Amish, they mingle more with the world, and Christner puts the fish out of water aspect in the limelight. Her books bring a wider perspective to Amish fiction readers and maintain the authenticity of her background.
Christner’s first book was published in 1994, and now she has eight historical novels. Her Plain City Bridesmaid series falls under the contemporary romance genre of Christian fiction.
Dianne and Jim Christner have two married children, five grandchildren, and many friends and family in various sects of the Mennonite church. You may find information about her other books at www.diannechristner.net where she keeps a blog about the Mennonite lifestyle.
