Showdown
It begins on a lazy summer day in a small, secluded mountain town named Paradise. But in Paradise, nothing is as it seems.

When a stranger named Marsuvees Black appears and announces he's come to bring hope and grace to Paradise, the town isn't sure how to respond. He offers dazzling love, hope, faith, and fun . . . the kind of fun everyone desires but is too timid to pursue. He knows the unspoken secrets of each person's heart--and has the power to grant them.

Tucked deep in the nearby canyons is a monastery long hidden from the world. Within its walls is power beyond comprehension. Yet that power is quickly slipping out of control.

As dark clouds and sandstorms shut Paradise off from the rest of the world, the unthinkable happens. Readers will be shocked as they discover the true secrets of this sleepy town. The ultimate collision between good and evil begins . . . with Showdown.

Great Read! | Posted April 15, 2009
I love Dekker's writing. This book definitely didn't disappoint me. The twists and turns really kept me going and kept me constantly turning the page. One thing I've noticed Dekker does is string along pieces of his stories into other ones. This book had a little bit of the "Lost Books" series.
It's mindbending yet also fun to try to put the pieces of the bigger story together,

Awesome thriller | Posted August 19, 2008
Ted Dekker definately doesn't disapoint in this awesome thriller. He paints a vivid picture of the story and introduces unforgetable characters in this heart-pounding thriller.

Solid Dekker | Posted June 07, 2008
Really fascinating not the best of Dekker's stuff, but he never disappoints. Some interesting thing to think about here and a sweet idea behind the whole plot. I would recommend this to any Christian fiction/thriller junkie.

Okay...what happened? | Posted May 01, 2008
This book is very good. Has good description but you get lost like over 100 times in it. For instance when it get's to the end your going, "okay, are we in the town or what?!" But it's also a book you can't put down.

The Best of Ted | Posted April 08, 2008
I've read all of Ted Dekker's books and I think this one is the best. If you like plot changes and surprising twists, this is definitely the book for you. Good and evil have never been so intertwined in a book as in Showdown. You do have to have some knowledge of the Circle Trilogy otherwise some of the surprise twists at the end will be lost on you.

Showdown | Posted April 07, 2008
This book is a bit slower than most other of Ted Dekker's, but one that should be read as a transition between some of his older books and his newer ones. It gives some good insights into his books that would otherwise never be known. It is still a good read, with a lot of twists and turns. It will have you hyped at a moment and slumped in the chair all in the same chapter. It is well worth the read.

A tough journey... | Posted March 05, 2008
...but worth muscling through the book for the surprise twist.

The character development in Showdown is very different and vivid, but I was puzzled by the apparently juvenile dialogue typical of the residents of Paradise. Also the story itself, while visually compelling, just didn't grab me.

That said, once the allusion to the Circle was made all of the earlier confusion was cleared up. Instantly. And in one of those extremely rare, hard-to-find "Wow!" moments (actually, there are two of these moments in Showdown). It was definitely worth reading the entire book just to get to these points.

Another classic | Posted March 04, 2008
Another great book by Dekker. He really shows the good vs. evil in a tangible way. The writing is solid and the events are easy to picture in your mind's eye.

At first it seems like a normal Dekker book, but then... BAM!!! | Posted February 24, 2008
Alright i'm not going to spoil the big surprise found within the pages of this book but I'll give one word. Connection. Anyway, Showdown is a great book. Ted Dekker has written another classic here. The characters feel so real that you can actually picture all of the events in your mind. The writing is solid and fluent. But if you haven't read The Circle Trilogy you'll be lost by surprise time. Also this book is really graphic. If you can't stand seeing blood or grotesque images or picturing these things in your mind, then don't read this book.
