Adam, a new novel by renowned author Ted Dekker, will be released on April 1, 2008. This book is not directly tied to any others, as many of Dekker's novels are.

A summary posted on Ted Dekker's official website reads:

FBI behavioral psychologist Daniel Clark has been made famous by his arguments that religion is one of society's greatest antagonists. What Daniel doesn't know is that his obsessive pursuit of a serial killer known only as "Eve" will end in his own death at Eve's hand. Twenty minutes later Daniel is resuscitated, only to be haunted by those twenty missing minutes of life.

It soon becomes painfully clear that the only way to stop Eve is to recover those missing minutes by dying . . . again. What isn't nearly as clear is just how many times he will have to die to discover the truth, not only about Eve, but about himself. Daniel will have to face haunting realities about demon possession in the modern world-and reevaluate his prejudice against religion-to stop Eve.

"As always with a Ted Dekker thriller, the detail is stunning, pointing to meticulous research in a raft of areas: police and FBI methods, forensic medicine, psychological profiling-in short, all that accompanies a Federal hunt for a serial killer. But Dekker fully reveals his magic in the latter part of the book, when he subtly introduces his darker and more frightening theme. It's all too creepily convincing. We have to keep telling ourselves that this is fiction. At the same time, we can't help thinking that not only could it happen, but that it will happen if we're not careful."

Great Read | Posted October 28, 2009
This book was one of my favorites that Dekker has written. I enjoyed it very much. His characters were so great and you really felt like you were there in the story. Dekker is very good at pulling you into the lives of his characters and keeping you turning the pages of his books. Adam was a great thriller novel. The mystery was great. It keeps you guessing until the last minute!

Loved it! | Posted July 14, 2009
Adam was an awesome book. I really loved how Dekker went into the subject of demon possession; it reminded me a little of This Present Darkness & Piercing The Darkness by Frank Peretti, both of which are amazing books as well. The plot twist was so unexpected and mind-blowing for me that I had to stop reading for a few moments and just let myself process it. The only thing I didn't like about Adam was Heather - for some reason, her character really annoyed me throughout the whole book. I would've much rather seen Daniel end up with Lori. Of course, that's just me, and other readers may have different opinions on that. Either way, Adam is another amazing thriller by Dekker that everyone should read!

Another Dekker Authored Masterpiece!!!! | Posted October 28, 2008
Ted Dekker does it again with the novel "Adam." I don't think that Ted Dekker can write a bad book. The main story is the search of a Serial killer who has killed 16 women. Daniel Clark a FBI investegator has spent years searching for the serial killer called Eve. When Daniel Clark gets to close to Eve a near death experience occurs for Daniel and draws him even further into the mind of the serial killer. What happens next is a whirlwind page turning ride that will make you see the real light of God. A very powerful and intense story that keeps you wanting more. I love the way the book switches between the story and magazine articles. Im not sure if this ties into the rest of Teds book or stand alone but who know with the mind of Dekker.

Pretty Good. | Posted October 27, 2008
This book was a little hard to get into from the begining. It had action, sure, but it was more run-of-the-mill action instead of Dekker's usual hard-hitting stuff. the ending was so moving. It makes you really wary of what's around you all the time and reminds you to be strong in your faith so nothing can attack you.

An interesting look at good and evil in our time | Posted July 02, 2008
Ted Dekker always has a knack for good storytelling and this book is no exception. Before the first chapter begins he starts the book with the 1st part of a series that looks over the life of someone named Alex Price. The remaining 8 parts are spread strategically throughout the novel so as to provide back story and motives into what is going on during the real story. The real story is about the FBI trailing a serial killer (again!) named Eve. Eve kills young women when there is a new moon in the sky. Daniel Clark is working in tracking Eve down and gets killed by Eve only to be brought back to life by his partner 20 minutes later. As the story progresses weird things start to happen to Daniel and by the end of the novel these weird things build up to one of the most realistic and genuinely terrifying confrontations between good and evil that Ted has ever written. I highly enjoyed this book and I believe other people will enjoy it too.

(Also, this book is not connected in any way to the Books of History series.)

Adam isn't but. But isn't good. | Posted June 04, 2008
It truly is odd. I am a die-hard TD fan. But when it comes down to it, I did not like this book.

Now, don't get me wrong. It is still the heart-pounding, blood-chilling novel that you expect from Ted, but it falls short somewhere. The idea of dieing to remember your death is fantastic, but, despite the twist, new and enjoyable magazine excerpts, and unique characters, I did not enjoy the book.

Another quadruple hitter for Teddy! | Posted April 28, 2008
I've been a Ted Dekker fan for the longest time and this book make me love his work even more! He's brilliant at conveying situations and plots eloquently but also in a very easy to understand basis. It was crazily amazing and kept me thinking for a while because of the realization that this could really happen! I recommend this to anyone looking to delve into great writing and ideas that will make your head spin. I'm greatly looking forward to his next work, Sinner, in November.

Couldn't Put it Down!!! | Posted April 27, 2008
I haven't been a Dekker fan for long. I read and enjoyed Skin and before that Obsessed. Now having finished Adam... I plan on reading all of his other books as well. This book blew me away. I just LOVE it when I get so caught up in a book that hours pass and I don't even notice because I'm so lost in the storyline. I literally could not stop reading it. It's not often when I am sincerely surprised by something that happens in a novel, but this book had some big turns that left me thinking, "WHAT???" I love that! Dekker really describes things in such a way that I could already visualize this book as a movie. Crazy plot twists, FBI involvement, good vs. evil, 2nd chance love... this book had it all. You will not be disappointed!!
