I'm Obsessed with this book! | Posted April 23, 2013
I’m sitting here wondering why I hadn’t read “Obsessed” by Ted Dekker sooner. A generational story spanning over a time of thirty years is one of the best Dekker books I’ve read thus far.
This novel is about two equally obsessed men. One, a real-estate agent living in America with an odd “birthmark” and no clear past. His “birthmark” leads him to his mother after her death and the news that she possessed one of the Stars of David, a very expensive religious relic. He starts his search for the Star and for answers only to find himself in over his head obsessed with a picture of a woman. His obsession turns to finding her, the other star of David.. The other man grew up in a camp ran by his Nazi father. There he learned to hate and obsess over power. Thirsty for this power he obsessively searches for the Stars of David, figuratively and literally.
. Dekker takes you back and forth to each world-that of the parents, who new each other, and their own. The two eventually collide. If you don’t already have an obsession, you better get one. It’s the only way to truly have LIFE.

A Compelling Book | Posted April 12, 2011
It has been a while since I have read Obsession, so I am fuzzy on the details. However, I was blown away by the premise of the book, and by the themes of love and obsession and how they relate to each other. It is an exciting read at the very least, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Obsessed with Obsessed | Posted June 11, 2009
Fantastic book. I was obsessed with it. Really it was. I had to laugh at the celery part. And I really got into the womans stories. He writes so clearly and with the perfect amount of description and intensity, and such ridiculous twists. And it was so real...some of this stuff is still going on in the world today. Like the 90 year old anti-semitist who shot the guards of a holocaust museum. I love how he tied in God's obsession with us. The mans obsession with his treasure is how God looks at us...and its how we should be obsessed with God's kingdom.

This book was a good story. It starts off a little slower than some of his others, but once you get into the book it's hard to put down. It delicately slices up two stories and delivers a twist ending to both at the end. It is a good read and also very interesting with the mixture of past and present.

I love this book so much! Ted Dekker really brought out some of his best writing in this book. It grabs you right away and you can't stop turning pages. If you have read any of Teds other books I promise you will not be disappointed with this one!
