What's your favorite guitar solo by Tom Morello? (greatest gutiar player of all time)
personally one of my favorites is Shadow on the Sun (Audioslave)
and everyone's gotta love the classic solo from Like A Stone (also Audioslave)
as for the scratching solos, Bulls On Parade (Rage Against the Machine) is great but i love the Original Fire (Audioslave) solo.
I wouldn't say greatest guitar player of all time, but definitely amazing. I haven't listened to much Audioslave, but it seems pretty good. Bulls on Parade is an impressive solo. Have you heard much of his solo work? His new cd is pretty good, though it's more acoustic, so not a lot of heavy solos like you might expect from him.

No, but he's very innovative. I can't possibly overstate that. His approach, the sounds he makes; there aren't many out there with the ability, the vision, or the guts to do what he does. Except good old Billy Corgan.
I really like the solo on 'Your Time Has Come,' and the Jazzy one on 'Settle for Nothing', and then 'Calm Like A Bomb'.... I think 'Calm Like A Bomb' is the best representation of his work as a whole.

on my list he's the greatest just because of exactly what grungekid said; there's VERY little people who can do the things he does, and still make them sound good. As for his solo work, it's different and, as you said, mostly acoustic so it's much for laid back. I haven't had time to listen to all of it but i love "Whatever It Takes" and i can play all of it except the solo (workin on it) on guitar myself. I just wish i could find the real hardcopies of the CDs somewhere, cause i guess i'm somewhat old fashioned but i would much rather have the real CD. especially since it's Morello.

"Your Time Has Come" has a great solo i agree, that was one of the first songs i learned to love by Audioslave. I;m not sure about Settle For Nothing, ill have to check it out. And i cant even remember the last time i listened to "Calm Like A Bomb" so ill have to go back.

I haven't heard the solo stuff. Acoustic eh? That's hard for me to imagine. I'm going to have to look it up.

yeah its very different from his anything like when he was in a band. it's kinda like what Chris Cornell is doin with his solo stuff, being completely different from anything we've ever heard from him before. i actually read an interview where they asked him whether it was a new Chris or not and he said something like "its not really new, i actually wrote many songs years ago but these just didnt really fit with the style of the bands i were in and they wouldnt appeal to the fan base that the bands had." pretty interesting thought.

Yeah, I have to say I'm a little irritated with Chris right now. Just listen to some of his other interviews... he's become quite pompous.
Anyway, the 'Nightwatchmen' is Tom's solo work. It's very cool; I'm listening to it now. He actually uses an acoustic-electric with special effects. Isn't that crazy?

The last time I saw him talk, he was blowing steam over how he thought rap was 'free' and rock sucks and how he wants to become a hip-hop singer or something stupid like that. The recognition has gone to his head.

and its not crazy, its Tom Morello.
I know, I love it.
wow i cant believe Chris wants to go rap... rap just has no comparison to rock and Chris' NATURAL voice is much more suited for rock. i dont care what the rap producers can make his voice sound like, his voice is perfect with the rock tone it already has.

I am in complete agreement. He's one of the best voices in the genre. Every time I talk to fans of older Jazz (which contains a number of legendary singers; the standard back in the fifties was much higher) if I even mention him, it's pretty much guaranteed that they'll say, "He's good." Those people aren't easily impressed, either.
I guess it all just went to his head, because he's definitely making a mistake. Not only that, but he's also quite mistaken.
