Has anybody heard more than "How He Loves" and "Alleluia Sing"

I think Alleluia Sing is a pretty epic song- has a really grand feel to it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gs6Pw9eY8PU

I don't really care for their cover of How He Loves- methinks it is alittle cheap.
(I'm biased- I'm a huge fan of Kim Walker's version)

What do you think of the new album? new song? etc.

I like the version of How He Loves- they did a great job of this live at StudentLife in Daytona. I am really looking forward to the new album. It is only six weeks away until the whole CD is released! Does anybody know the history of the song How He Loves? I would be interested about the background of the song?

I heard that they are doing a cover of Flyleaf's All Around Me. I really think that will be interesting.

I'm really hoping that some of these intriguing titles are really good songs just not strange titles for the sake of being strange.

I respect this band when they use creativity to push the boundaries of worship music- and have some fun non-worship tunes...

My main problem with this album is the repetiviness of it- the music is so repetitive that it gets annoying. and then on some of the songs vocally/lyrically he repeats so much of the same thing that it's easy to think that this is all you are going to listen to- to me, it shows a lack of creativity- a lack of something to say.

Another thing I don't like about this album is the over abundance of techno influences- it's too much. I know that DCB has always had some techno beats/flourishes- this album is just too much

The following is my initial reactions hearing the songs for the first time:

All Around Me is the FLYLEAF cover- The beginning is like one of those cheezy string quartet knock offs (musically)- vocally I don't like it- they slowed it way down. It never goes anywhere musically. Never builds into a rousing song- just a debbie downer.

Shine was another mediocre song- good lyrics- but musically it was blah.

Phos Hilron is ok- it's short and experimental

Oh Happiness techno vibe- sounds like a Coke commericial meets the Patridge family.

God Almighty- cool guitar work in the beginning. sounds like their trying alittle too hard to have that "epic" closing song.

Birmingham ok... i'm really beginning to not like this album- sounds like mutemath sucked on a helium baloon

Dance- finally a cool tune. Very dance hall-ish. then throw in some 70s vocals saying Dance... over and over. ok lost me on the chorus- very cheap lyrics. think family force five for 40 year olds- i'm alittle sad- at this point

We are Loved - this song reminds me of "Can you Feel it?" off of REMEDY. not much difference (musically) from those two songs

The Veil - i don't really like all the saws/leads used in these songs. This is a better song- different- so i'm not sure if it equates better- i'm on the fence. very techno-dance hall

Can I lie
i like this song. it's what I like from DCB- alittle too repetitive for my taste

In the end it's ok- caught myself thinking- why is this still playing?

the Nearness a classic DCB song- the woman's moaning/groaning in it is annoying.

Eastern Hymn somebody was up late with a Yamaha s90 keyboard and recorded it and put it on this album. I actually kind of like it- nothing to right home about

the light and the shadows - a good song.

I'm really kind of disappointed with this album- there's not really a song that stands out besides "Alleluia Sing" - which is the highlight of the album.

justink: Have you ever seen David Crowder*Band live?

His best songs have that epic feel with the chorus repeated many times ("You Are My Joy", "O Praise Him", "Never Let Go", "The Glory Of It All", "Everything Glorious").

Regarding "Church Music", incredible album. I LOVE "A Collision" and for me, this is one of the top albums of the year.

Oh yeah, they are great live- and yeah those songs that you said are great songs- and I think Alleluia Sing fits in with those songs- but the rest of them lack something... whether it's the musicality that is a big turn off (which on some tracks it is) or the lyrics (which some are becoming alittle overrused in CCM) - there are hardly 3 songs on this new album that stand out- The covers of songs (All Around Me/ How He Loves) lack the passion and the zeal of the original and just sound like something that they covered so that they could be on the WOW worship compliation. Shocked

A Collision was good- Illuminate was Good- This...not so much.

I think this will be one of the albums of the year and their tour is going to be very successful even in this rough economy. I think this album will grow on you so just keep listening to it.

Oh no doubt that it will be one of the albums of the year- but so will anything by Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, and Tobymac- but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's good
