Andy Hunter is known in Christian music for bringing faith to the club through electronic dance music, but this week, the BPMs he was most concerned about were in his heart as he ran the London Marathon.
Hunter finished the more than 26-mile jog through England's biggest city in 3 hours, 52 minutes and 29 seconds.
"The challenge ... is perhaps not the run, but trying to raise as much money as possible for ... Compassion," Hunter recently wrote.
He turned to friends, family and fans to sponsor his run by donating to the "Water of Life" project through Compassion International, which provides people in underdeveloped parts of the world with clean drinking water systems. Initially seeking £1,500 ($2,500), Hunter saw his goal exceeded, to the tune of £1,813.25 ($3,000).
He joined with a trio of other Compassion runners to raise a total of nearly £3,900 ($6,509). And since £50 buys a filter, giving a family clean water for life, essentially 78 families' lives will be changed forever as a result of giving to Compassion's London Marathon runners.
"Thanks to all of you who sponsored me and helped towards getting water filters," Hunter wrote on his Facebook page. "Many lives will be saved!"
Hunter is an advocate of Compassion International, supporting a 10-year-old boy named Saikat who lives on the outskirts of Calcutta, India.
"Back in 2012 I had the honour and privilege of meeting Saikat and his mother and to see up-close the work of Compassion," he wrote on his marathon donation page. "It was a life-changing and challenging trip and it's amazing to see how the life of children and generations to come are changes through the support Compassion gives."
