| 'Color Wheel Tour' Coming to a City Near You
Some of the best tours, one might argue, feature some of the most unlikely matchups--bands that seemingly have nothing in common.
Although the bands on RED's latest tour have stylistic differences, they have one very important thing in common: color.
RED announced on Sunday via its Pinterest wall that it would be headlining a tour featuring rockers The Letter Black, worship band Bluetree, a revival of the seminal 80s rock band Whitecross, 90s-era rock-meets-brass band Shaded Red, and singer/songwriter Jason Gray.
"We've been on tour nonstop since, like, I dunno, 11 years ago," said RED lead singer Mike Barnes. "And when you've been on tour this long, picking acts to tour with you is kind of hard. So one night, we were up pretty late on the tour bus playing Apples to Apples, and it hit us: RED is a color. We had to investigate to see if other bands out there were colors, too."
It turns out, there were lots of colors, and the result is the Color Wheel Tour, a 26-stop tour in North America and East Asia.
"Colors really are universal," Barnes said. "I mean, if you look around you, they're everywhere--red... yellow... purple-ish... red... it's like our world is covered in them. On this tour, we hope people will come away with that message."
