It was under the Metal Ages record label, which unfortunately fell through. So, what has Smith been doing in 5 years? For starters, he's gotten immeasurably better at production this album sounds so much cleaner than the debut. He's also found a new record label Ulterium, home of fellow Christian Metal acts Sinbreed, Innerwish, and Harmony. Finally, he's gotten a few new band members together Guitarist Jon Hinds and Drummer Shawn Benson, which means no more drum machine!

While progressive/power metal is fairly common in secular European circles, it is more severely limited in American, and especially Christian, scenes. Unlike other Christian metal bands, Theocracy isn't simply a rip-off of a popular secular band. While their influences can be determined, and their sound compared to Edguy, Avantasia, Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, etc., they cannot be called a copy of[...]

The Ministry Years Vol. 2: 1980-1982, Disc 1 by Keith Green - Thought Altering and Life Changing

Nobody in their right mind would say that an enemy is necessary. Your life may be good right now, but when you battle an enemy and come out the other side, your life will be better than you could've imagined.

Overall this release is a little on the short side, but has a consistent and worshipful presence throughout. The songs are well done and have a surreal mellow atmosphere that truly ushers in a time of quiet contemplation. I didn't have a particular song that stood out, but felt instead that the whole album was good.[...]

Get You Some by 737 - Get You Some

A solid Christ-focused album through and through with a full 14 tracks presented. This release seems very consistent with 737's second release in it's sound, presentation and quality of music. It's great to hear theological subjects presented in a rap format. I know my teenage daughters have often started rapping something from other Christian rap artists when we are doing a bible study and I'm always thankful for the ministry arists like 737 have in the lives of young people. Music like this have the potential to reach and minister to many.[...]

Convinced by 737 - Convinced

A strong Christ-focused rap album from 737 that not only focuses on many of the struggles we all face, but also reaches into theological areas as well. Lara's voice is beautiful as always, and lyrically the album has quite a bit of depth. I'm not sure the history behind this release, so assuming it may have been an introductory EP when she was starting out as an artist. I think it has some merits, but is also missing much of the rich breadth that Lara's later releases would showcase.[...]

Beloved (2009) by Lara Landon - Beloved

Truly stunning! When I first heard this release my first thought was that it was a sleeper knockout album that I couldn't believe I wasn't hearing on CCM radio daily. It really made me wonder how much what CCM radio plays must come down to labels with big pockets dictating to a large part what we hear over the airwaves. Lara has an amazing musical presence and her music has a beautiful depth that seems hard to find at times in Christian music. The production quality on this album is top-notch and all of the songs feel like they were truly polished into sparkling gems.[...]

Overcome by Lara Landon - Overcome

Another amazing collection of engaging tracks from Lara! I still wonder to myself why Lara's music seems to reside in a hidden world that I never see or hear anything about on CCM radio!? I enjoy having releases in this under-represented genre of Christian music, but feel this particilar album really didn't have any tracks that stood out overall. Musically it feels a little out of step and like it needed more work and someone who could craft a better collection of grooves and hooks to develop the songs better. I am really glad to see that the band continued working on their music after this debut and continues to get better and write some very good music.[...]

Light Up The Dark by The Washington Projects - Light Up the Dark

I really liked this album for filling a void in a style of music that really seems under-represented in Christian music. Many of the songs seemed like they had a lot of potential but maybe needed a little more work to really bring them up to stellar status. From a musical standpoint my favorite track by far is "Justus" with the second favorite being "Stay". "Justus" really stands out among the pack with an instantly catchy groove, something I wish more of the bands songs had, as I always feel the band is on the verge of something much greater.[...]

Space Time Continuum by The Washington Projects - Space Time Continuum

By far the best release from the band and an amazing top-notch collection of remixes from some of The Washington Projects past songs. This is hands down the best recorded album I have heard in the dance genre since 'Charmaine's' Love Reality album (a musical masterpiece that seemed to go almost un-noticed by most). The arrangements on this new release from The Washington Projects are consistently exceptional throughout and are well varied for dance music, each standing well on their own, but collectively blending very well into a solid group. It is awe-inspiring and feels like a little Hawk Nelson based on the singers high vocals that he screams out. This is their 2008 album “We Need Each Other” Before this they are famous for their album “Face of Love”
