Lacking hope

I wandered, blind

Lacking peace

And thus resigned

This would ever be my lot

Oh where is the love I've sought?

It happened at the cross

At Jesus' feet

I'm finally fulfilled

Now I know what it is

That I've been searching for

I found it right where You were torn

I found it at the cross

Losing strength

I staggered 'round

Losing joy

Fear gaining ground

Thirsty for a drop of rain

You're the source of all good things

Just Imagine This 05/15/13

Heading off for another horizon

Trying not to cry as I go

I think about all that I'm leaving

But I have a duty I know

I turn around for one last look

Hoping you'll show no restraint

Don't know who's running faster

Then you're in my arms again

As I gaze at you and take it all in

Let the last thing I say be "I love you"

Let the last thing I do be a kiss

Let the last sight I see

Be you smiling at me

So that every moment I miss

I can just imagine this

There are no guarantees 'bout tomorrow

Death might be an instant away

But God even looks out for sparrows

When You Called My Name 05/10/13

I have nothing of myself left

No more clinging to yesterday

Question is, who am I now

That everything's been stripped away?

I always defined myself as

One whose time hadn't come

But there's no denying now

I was a prodigal on the run

Chorus:

When You called my name

I would flee into

The arms of shame

I couldn't see the truth

That all You ever wanted

Was the only thing I had

And the very thing I needed

All I had to do was ask

When You called my name

You were patiently awaiting

The moment I would turn around

See the perfect peace You offered

And realize I could be found

Through many years of weeping

Bad choices and wrong roads

I struggled, proud and stubborn

Underneath fear's crushing load

I keep on plugging away

Pushing up the hill

I haven't found success yet

And it seems I never will

There's always something missing

When I try to make it work

It's hard to get excited

'Cause I'm always getting hurt

When's enough?

When do I stop?

Can I give up?

Is it okay?

Should I be here

Or somewhere else

I have no clue

Can You help?

I keep on trying to pray

Don't quite know what for

Should I ask to be content

Or for You to open doors?

Both paths call my name

But only one for now

Beyond Safe 05/08/13

Safe was such a good word

Before I met You

Now it seems like a curse

A line drawn in the sand

I'd never cross without

Wanting to hit the reverse

For fear of falling, no flight is possible

For fear of loving, no life

And if I fear getting closer to You

Must be that I've got something to hide

Chorus:

Turn off the lights

Turn off the brakes

Anything that holds me back

Has got to go

Block out the lies

Focus my eyes

Take me beyond safe

To the road, You want me on

I tucked myself away in

A small lit room

All I needed was there

But it soon ran out

And I knew I had to follow

To live on the edge of a prayer

For fear of growing, no fruit is possible

For fear of asking, no hope

It's time to believe that all things are possible
