July 10th is FINALLY here... It once seemed so far away... That's right, the new INTERPOL record came out today! 'Our Love to Admire' is (so far) everything it should be. 'Antics' was a surprise in that, well, it didn't fail. It was a sophomore effort that actually met the stellar debut. OLTA is right there... no big change in sound, just more of the same Interpol I've come to love, with some little glossy flourishes.
An even bigger surprise is the new SPOON record, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. I'm a Spoon 'fan', but not a real 'fanatic'. I've dug every record of theirs that i've picked up, so I wasn't expecting a letdown... I just wasn't anticipating that it would be as delightful as it is. And as cliche as that sounds, thats the best word I can think of for it... delightful. Its cute and poppy and small and rocky all at once. and the bonus disc doesn't hurt at all.
Smashing Pumpkins are back with another Billy Corgan solo record. Not bad, but not groundbreaking...
New Bad Religion... Still haven't gotten around to opening the plastic!
And I'm still waiting for Patton Oswalt to come in the mail, as my local shops aren't stocking it.
