So Where Have I Been?
Category: Life
Views: 39

Hey everyone, it seems like it has been forever since I was a regular on here :(. I thought I might as well post a blog to let you all in on the going-on's of my life.

Well lots of stuff have happened in the last 6 months, and it just seems like time has become really good at getting away from me. In April I started dating this awesome girl; and honestly she was quite distracting from NRT (:P). And then just in general it seemed like my summer was insanely busy. We did a bunch of stuff and went to California for 2 weeks for a family reunion/vacation.

Then when August came around I got a job at a McAlister's Deli in my town(If you haven't heard of them, they are more of a central US company). So far it's been a good job. I mostly enjoy working there and it pays money :P. I bus tables and take peoples orders and the like.

And then I started College a couple weeks ago at my local community college. And so far that has been pretty good too. I just am starting to hate homework(which I should be working on now). I am trying to stay on top of it though. But I like most of my teachers and the classes are good in general. I'm taking: English 101(composition), Honors Seminar, Political Science, College Algebra, and Basic Computer Applications.

It's really weird driving somewhere 3 days a week to go to school after being homeschooled so long :P. O yeah, and I'm also learning to despise rush hour(Even though I'm mostly on the fringe of it...)

I am also learning to relish my free time a little more. I tend to spend a lot of it at church and with my girlfriend when I get it. Other than that I still nourish my reading(mostly Ted Dekker as of late) and facebook addictions when I have the free time.

Anyways that is my life in a nutshell right now. Sorry for not being active on here very much, but it's just not very realistic to be a regular on here again any time soon :(.

Random blog and VBS
Category: Life
Views: 65

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I blogged on just life in general. Life has been pretty awesome lately with everything that has been going on. It has just been really busy. Been doing a lot of stuff with my family and also with my girlfriend(next week we will have been dating 2 months!). And then church stuff as well(I've been helping as a small group leader on Wednesdays; and I volunteer for a couple hours every week with my youth pastor).

Church has been really great lately. My drama team is starting up a new Dinner Theater and I'm very excited. And on Wednesday's we're going through The Gospel Journey Maui(which if you aren't familiar it's a reality series with a bunch of different faiths, put on by Dare 2 Share ministries) which has been very awesome. Tackling stuff like "is there a higher power?", "what is your purpose in life?", "do all paths lead to heaven?", etc... O!!!! And we also got a new pastor after over two years with interim's. It's very exciting! He's great!

And then this week is VBS. I'm helping with Kindergartners. We've had around 27-28 kids these first couple days. Three days left...hoping I can survive, lol. Most of the kids are good, but we have 4 or 5 kids that just are obstinate and don't want to listen all the time(or with two of them--never). Luckily tonight we had a girl helping who is awesome with kids. She didn't "solve the problem", but her helping made the night a lot smoother and I was so thankful for her being there. And even with all the craziness that tires me out, I have been enjoying it a lot.

Although I keep getting the theme song stuck in my head "On the Booooomerang express, it all comes back to Jesus!" :P

Also I'm sorry I haven't really been active as much these past several months. I just feel like the boards are getting a little too spammy and I sometimes don't feel like responding to any of them. I try to respond to one here and there though so I can stay somewhat active here. And I have also been losing a bit of my enthusiasm for Christian music because not much has been coming out that I want to buy(plus my limited funds :P). But hopefully come fall I'll be a little more enthusiastic ^^. I hope all you guys have been awesome! Talk to you all later!

In Christ,
Jorden

Verses on Love
Category: Poetry
Views: 69

So I don't write poetry much, but I was inspired a bit before bed tonight. These probably aren't very good since I wrote them at almost 1am :P. I love the first one. The second I was a little iffy on, and then the third is just a couplet I couldn't find a spot for in either poems, but I couldn't throw away. Hope you like these both! They're pretty simple, but I worked hard on them nevertheless.

Let me know if you see anything you find un-Biblical or that confuses you. That is the last thing I want to do with these...

In Christ,
Jorden
--------------------

Chimes, Symbols, Smoldering Ash
These, your works, will be as trash.

Angelic voices, Body dead,
Money given, Bible read
None of these will give you life
Only lead to pain and strife.

One thing, I know, will last above,
This thing, my friend, is faithful Love.

-----------------------------------

Love for God and Love for Man,
This is truly the best command.
Act quickly for it is not too late,
Choose to Love and not to hate.

For there's no middle ground you see.
But this world would like you to believe.
That you can just turn away,
Keep to yourself, they'll be okay.

But this is a truth I know in part,
God will always judge your heart,
Love not yourself and turn your love
To those around you and to God above.

It's been long, I know you say,
But bow your head and graciously pray,
Ask for strength to choose today,
To live for Love and not for Hate.

Silver, Gold, and precious stones,
The worlds enticements will not hold.
Throw off your shackles and live today,
And you, my friend, will find your way.

--------------------------

For power and wealth will bring you naught,
Faithful Love is all you've got.

Graduation and Grad Party!
Category: Life
Views: 77

So the past few days have been the cumulation of the past several months. Well technically -years-, but months in the sense of what my life has been like lately.

Thursday the 23rd I had my rehearsal for Graduation and it was cool because I got to see the idea of what was going to happen and meet my graduating class. For those of you that don't know I'm homeschooled so this was a homeschool graduation. It was cool though. There were 21 of us. I didn't know anyone, but I got to know the two people next to me somewhat so that was enjoyable.
-------------------------------------------------
Friday was the big day so I arrived at 4:45 to get my pictures taken(the earliest slot--the ceremony started at 6:30). Only to find out that there was a problem scheduling and I couldn't get started on pictures till 5:00. So we waited and finally got my pictures. After that we finished up my picture board(which I had set up the previous night). And we looked at everyone elses. Then we waited for a bit and the orchestra(yes we had an orchestra) started playing Pirates of the Caribbean and I was so happy, lol. It was awesome.

After we took our group photo it was about time to start; so we all went out into the hallway and chatted and got into position to walk into the room. We walked into the room and took our place as we had practiced and...nothing went wrong, lol. The "announcer" talked for a min and the orchestra played "Shine Jesus Shine." Then our first major thing happened. We got a certificate of recognition from a representative in the state of Missouri. So that was pretty cool. Then the main speaker of the conference that was going on(that's why we had the graduation where we did) came up and gave a 15min sermon/lesson to us graduates which was interesting. I think the choir sang a song here.

After all this the bulk of the ceremony took place. The diploma awarding. The way we did it is the parents of the students gave a "2-3 minute" speech and then handed the award to the student. It was kinda cool because we got to hear a bunch of different parents encouraging their sons and daughters. That took awhile though because some, obviously, did not stick within the time limit :P.

After this was over the "announcer" said a few words and prayed and then they announced that we could place our tassels on the left side of our hats. And then right after that right before we walked out some guys threw their hats and I was kinda wanting to do that anyways so I did, lol. It wasn't the best throw ever, but it was short notice :P. So overall it was fun. It was cool to see all those people there for me, and my bro and sister-in-law came up, and they live 8 hours away.

Afterwords we chatted and said bye to everyone and then as we were about to leave we decided to see if my cousins and grandma wanted to go grab a bite since we hadn't eaten. So we all went to Steak N Shake and hung out for a little longer. Overall a great graduation :).
------------------------------------------------
Saturday afternoon was my "reception" so I invited my bunch of my friends and a few relatives to come to this arcade/pizza buffet place and we had a blast!

We had a private room for an hour and a half so we ate our food in there and hung out for awhile being random like we always are(Or more correctly, me and my girlfriend watching my friends be random and laughing with them like we always do, lol--gotta love them though). Then after pizza, cake, and presents(aside from money I got a cool Graduation Box my aunt made me, a Christian shirt from my friend, and my girlfriend made me this awesome collage of me and all my friends with our dodgeball team name on it).

Then after this we went to the arcade area. Most of the time there I spent with my girlfriend, but I hung out with my friends some too. My girlfriend and I both like playing this Jurassic park game they have there where we shoot dinosaurs, but it was busy like all night. So we played air hockey first(I won 5-7). Then we went and played bumper cars with some of my friends. The funnest part aside from bumping everyone was spinning in circles, it was sweet, lol. Then we watching several of my friends go on this huge simulator which was fun. We also played the Korean version of DDR twice throughout the night. My girlfriend is decent at it, but I'm just a tad better. Umm, then we played Deal or no Deal and I only got 25 tickets, but my girlfriend, as always, did awesome and got 105 tickets(I did follow the 200 ticket case amazingly though). Then we raced Go Karts with my friends and I took second. We finally got into the Jurassic Park game and we probably spent about $8 total, but we beat it! It was nice. We did several other random things, but my favorite random moment I haven't mentioned was I found a whack-a-shark game and I now love that game. What could be better than getting to hit little plastic sharks as hard as you can? Lol.

Anyways I had an awesome weekend and I'm sad that it's over and school is back on :(. But O well, life must go on. Talk to you guys later! Bye.

Long Day on the Road
Category: Travel Places
Views: 91

Whew, I just spent a thrilling 8 hours on the road. The drive was ok, I did a couple classes and watched Finding Nemo. And I listened to a lot of music on my zune.

The reason we're in Nashville is because my dad is working some sort of conference here till Saturday and since my brother lives here, my mom and I decided to come along.

It was a pretty good deal for us because my dad's work pays for the gas, hotel room, my dad's food, etc... And we haven't seen my Nephew yet, so we're all really excited(he's a little less than 3 months old).

Currently we're just hanging out and waiting for my brother to call so we can figure out where we're going for dinner and then we'll get to see mt Nephew for the first time! So yeah...not sure what to do now but relax. So I'll talk to you guys later!

In Christ,
Jorden
