Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)
Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.
 
What kind of attitude are you going to have today?  You do realize it's a choice.  I'll admit my attitude stunk yesterday; I was allowing things to get me down and discouraged.  That caused me to be a very negative, grumpy person to be around, just ask my wife.  The Lord convicted me that I was not guarding my heart.  Once my heart accepted the bad attitude it affected the way I saw things, how I acted and how I treated others.  This verse was something that I didn't live out and it made me absolutely miserable.  I had to finally ask the Lord to forgive me for my attitude and begin guarding my heart.  Maybe today you have gotten out of bed with a really bad attitude.  It's time to guard your heart and make the choice that is not how you are going to act.  Why have a bad day when you can walk in the joy of the Lord today?  So today our devotion is challenging you to have an attitude check and to make sure you are guarding your heart.
