||Happy 5 Year Anniversary NRTeam!
Today is a really special day. On Tuesday, July 3, 2007, a short five years ago today, we flipped the switch on our redesigned site, lauching the NRTeam in the process. We spent over six long months designing and programming an ambitious design with the hopes that it would welcome Christian music fans worldwide. Everything we worked on revolved around this new community that we wanted to build. A place for Christian music fans to connect, to build and create, to discover new music, to be rewarded for their activity and to ultimatly build the Kingdom of God through the wonderful world of Christian music.
Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into and the amazing response that we would see.
The stats have been staggering and have completely blown away our expectations. Over 65,000 members have joined us on this journey. Since we relaunched the site, over 12.7 million people have visited, accessing over 30.7 million pages of content, almost all of which has been created by the NRTeam community. 3,500 artist detail pages. 12,000 albums. 75,000 lyrics. 4,500 videos. 16,000 album reviews. 1,000 authors. 7,000 books. 1,500 book reviews. 110,000 forum posts.
To say that the NRTeam has created the largest Christian music database is an understatement. The depth of content and history available for our industry inside the pages of NRT is pretty amazing. And the fact that the music fan community highly contributed to its creation is a proud achievement for us all.
The growth of NRT since we relaunched has been pretty exciting to watch. While the site has been online since August 2002, we were barely a blip on the radar. October 2007 was our first month using Google Analytics (which we still use today). That month, we welcomed 45,303 visitors who accessed 252,368 pages. Not bad for a three month old site. But compare that to last October, where we saw 428,657 visitors (an increase of 846%) and 849,368 pageviews (an increase of 236%) and you can see where we've come in a short amount of time.
Our entire staff remains incredibly humbled at the opportunity we have to be a voice in this industry. Back in July of 2007, MySpace was the social network of choice. The iPhone was getting ready to upend the mobile industry (along with many others). And the music industry was still adjusting to the iTunes dominated world of digital music. Times change pretty fast, and one of our missions here at NRT has been to push the Christian industry forward using new technology, to continue to reinvent ourselves and seek to build on the platform that started all of this five years ago today.
None of this would be possible without you. Your continued visits, interactions and passion to reach people for Christ through Christian music keeps us pushing forward. Your encouraging comments keep us reaching new heights. And your prayers reach us daily. We thank you for everything you do for NRT and our entire staff is honored to serve you!
