Getting Closer to God Category: Bible Study Devotionals Views: 219 In James 4:8, we are told 'Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." Basically saying, if we strive to get closer to God, He will do the same with us. This tells us that we have to show initiative in order to get closer to God. We have to do something about it. We can't just say "Man, I want to get closer to God," and expect it to happen. We have to put forth effort in order for a change to take place in our relationship with Him. And how do you usually make a relationship grow with someone? Spend time with them, communicate with them, etc. So in order to grow in our relationship with God, we need to pray. Talk to Him. Spend time reading His word. There's never a wrong time to start working on your relationship with God.
