Best Albums of 2008
Category: Music
Views: 358

I'm still waiting to get the new albums by Bebo Norman, underOath, House of Heroes, Jeremy Camp, Haste the Day, and Emery (EP) so they may make the list later but here's my favorite albums out of over 50 releases in 2008 that I picked up:

Tie: 1. The Final Riot! - Paramore
1. Southern Hospitality - Disciple
2. Albertine - Brooke Fraser
3. Hello - After Edmund
4. With Arrows, With Poise - The Myriad
5. Unbreakable - Fireflight
6. We Need Each Other - Sanctus Real
7. Ending Is Beginning - Downhere
8. The Silver Cord - The Classic Crime
9. Children 18:3 - Children 18:3
10. Anorexia - Showbread
11. Nervosa - Showbread
12. The Bright Sadness - Charlie Hall

Albums that I was disappointed with:

New Surrender - Anberlin (I had high expectations for this one, lyrics are good but I was disappointed that they moved back to the pop genre)

OK Now - Jon McLaughlin

Rock What You Got - Superchic[k] (Initially, I liked this album, but I became sick of it quickly)

Expect The Impossible - Stellar Kart (Wasn't too disappointed with this one, because I wasn't expecting that much but I liked the video for "Innocent")

I Will Go - Starfield

Opposite Way - Leeland (Amazing lyrics, too bad the music wasn't as good)

Dance Or Die - Family Force 5 (Biggest disappointment, where's the crunk?)

House of Heroes' album AND Emery's EP are BOTH in my top ten of '08!!! Underoath's cd was really good too.
As a HUGE Anberlin fan, at first I was a little dissappointed, but the more I have listened to the cd the more I like, 'tis in my top 10, along w/ The Classic Crime, Relient K's, The Myriad and four other ones! :D

A fellow downhere fan and I were discussing 'Ending is Beginning' and he thought it was too "AC". He's right, but for me it was totally brilliant (especially "My Last Amen" and "Cathedral Made of People"). Yes, I have an actual top 50 list and Kutless is #30 for me (really like 75% of it) and Pillar is #16 (really like 90% of it). Can't quite figure out where to rank The Myriad. I suppose since I ranked Future of Forestry #6 last year, it's in that range but that FOF album is more "Christian" overall (and 'emo' which is why I love it so much).

Pillar's album was pretty good, that would definitely make my top 20 along with Kutless, Jon Foreman, and The Afters.

Ultimately I wasn't disappointed with my 4 most anticipated albums of 2008: downhere, Sanctus Real, Leeland & Starfield (they all make my top 10). I also got 50 albums and I totally agree with Brooke Fraser, After Edmund, The Myriad as top 10 worthy. I strongly considered Pillar for top 10, what did you think?
