The Top 5 Most Anticipated Albums of the 2nd Half of 2009! Category: Music Views: 148
Is it safe to say that 2009 thus far has been a snore, musically? Sure, there's been some good stuff, but nothing classic or memorable. So, put on some optimism and pray Fall & Winter 2009 brings us something to remember the year by.
5. Phil Wickham: "Heaven & Earth"
This one's for WookieChew! Besides, with the delays, the anticipation only rises!
4. Hawk Nelson: "Live Out Loud"
While I don't like the album cover, it's Hawk Nelson and it'll be interesting to see if they can continue their trademark energy & momentum.
3. Switchfoot: "Hello Hurricane"
When was the last time Switchfoot released a brand-new album? Try 2006. Sure, they've been on the decline since "The Beautiful Letdown," but they're independent now, and I imagine they're ready to come back out of the gate. The results should be pretty interesting.
2. Family Force 5: "The Family Force 5 Christmas Pageant"
The insane crunk/rock/dance band doing a Christmas album? This could be the most original Christmas album since Relient K did one, and it could surpass it depending on how it's done. Can you imagine the potential FF5 treatment of "My Favorite Things?"
1. Relient K: "Forget and Not Slow Down"
What? You expected me to pick somebody other than the best band on Earth? Not a chance. Let me count the reasons for high anticipation. First, Relient K is never content to remain comfortable and they always go 111%, expect new sounds and directions from the band. Secondly, new lyrical gems from Matt Thiessen who appeared a lot outside Relient K writing for Kelly Clarkson and appearing with Owl City, and if he's that good outside of his own band, imagine what he can do with his own band. Thirdly, it's a new chapter since their debut was almost ten years ago, and they have a new drummer for his first full record. Fourthly, look at this awesome pre-order deal! http://relientk.skyroo.com/se/view/music/index.html
Yeah, I'll be getting the "Super Fan Pack" for the most anticipated album of the year. I think the back-half of 2009 should be pretty good after all...
August 26, 2009, 02:15AM @hawknelsonaddict I'll admit Skillet's was ONE OF the most anticipated albums of the year, for sure. But definitely not THE most anticipated album of the year. Just saying...
August 26, 2009, 02:03AM Thanx again for the shoutout Jeremy. :)
@hawknelsonaddict Skillet's was a disappointment. I think Switchfoot's is probably the most anticipated album of the year, and that's a little bit of a stretch. Because there was also Mat Kearney's new one, which was highly aticipated, seeing as his last album was three years ago! And then there's Jars Of Clay, after Good Monsters (also three years ago) no one was sure what to expect. Just my thought! :)

Philmont might make #6, I'm not expecting anything interesting from TFK, Skillet is technically already out, judging by Paramore's first single their 3rd album will be a large step back from their last album, and as for others... I just don't dig.
