The Moon & Other Thoughts Category: Misc Thoughts Views: 26
How about those SATs? Yeah, I'm not going to advocate their complete ban as an academic indicator for colleges. The whole test, how you take the test and otherwise is a complete joke. But hey, I now have a life, a life in which I can blog about the Moon. I would Tweet about my thoughts about the Moon, but the Moon takes up too much space.
On Friday, NASA bombed the Moon. Why? Because they wanted to find water so they could colonize the Moon. That night I watched the 2002 version of The Time Machine. Bad Idea! Why? Because in the movie, our 1900s hero travels to the year 2030 and finds that the moon is being colonized, and work is going to begin the bomb the moon to get underground so humans can live in the subterranean levels of the Moon, so more people can colonize up there. Our hero travels 7 years in the future and finds a apocalyptic wasteland. New York City is in ruins, buildings smashed and collapsed, and the surface getting the crap beat out of it from a steady show of falling rocks. Where are these rocks coming from? Apparently that bombing overworked and literally broke the Moon. As a result, the Moon is coming back to Earth, and has thrown the blue ball out of its normal orbit. Fast forward 800,000 years and our hero looks a the Moon which looks like a cluster of large rocks in the sky.
Now, I'm sure the science of this scenario is completely crap, and would not bring about the end of humanity and civilization as we know it, but still! Don't go bombing the Moon, NASA, play it safe and don't take any chances!
Wow, it seems everytime I come to NRT, which isn't often enough it seems like Kevin has added something new. So props to the Admin himself!
Props to Owl City for their success too! It's amazing how Fireflies was first a free single back in early July, then I praised Ocean Eyes as being a great and original work, and from their it's just built up into what I predicted Fireflies to be, the underground hit of the year. It's gone from underground to number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Think about that for a second. As of this writing, Fireflies is officially the 11th most popular song in America. It's great to see in sea of a constant stream of bad music that something great is actually getting some recognition as such.
Also in mainstream music news, even though it's only October, Lady GaGa wins Mainstream Artist of the Year in my mind. Why? Her songs exploded, she's outrageous, she has a great/weird sense of fashion, she's a good actress and quite funny, her music is pretty decent, she added new terms to pop culture, we also asked questions about her we probably shouldn't have asked. If all that wasn't enough, not only can she do the processed dance track, but she has a stunningly good voice, and she slays the best of them acoustically on the piano.
Hopefully I will have time one day to explain the popularity of the Zombie Apocalypse, and why the fascination behind it.
