"After the music stops, what's next?" | Posted March-03-2008
Christian rapper Lecrae's sophomore album After the Music Stops certainly does not disappoint. Lecrae's southern style combines with hot beats and lyrics that challenge every believer to form a musical masterpiece. The album opens with Lecrae asking the question "After the music stops, what's next?" When the concerts are over and the music is done playing, is that just it or are you going to go home and apply the music to your life and read the Bible, pray, witness, fellowship, and just get closer to God? That's Lecrae's question for every listener.

The album also includes the chopped-and-screwed Southern-style banger "Jesus Muzik", the convicting "Send Me" that speaks of the importance of missions and witnessing to the lost, and the theme song for the all-saved, all-serious Christians out there "Unashamed", among others.

If you like southern style rap"Christian or secular, this album is for you!

The Truth | Posted March-03-2008
13 Letters is the newest album from the 116 Clique. It features Reach Records artists Lecrae, Trip Lee, Tedashii, and Sho Baraka along with guest appearances by 1-Lyfe, Rick Trotter, Diamone, Dillon Chase, Shai Linne, and Json. The album breaks down the 13 Pauline epistles"that is the book of Romans through the book of Philemon"and presents them with banging beats and hot lyrics all mashed together to create truth-injected songs. Along with the 13 songs based on the epistles, the album features 5 bonus tracks of brand-new, never heard before material""Begin with the End", "Dig In", "Get Loose", "Evolution", and "Carry Mine".

13 Letters presents the truth of the Gospel in a very listener-friendly way. You will not want to hit the stop button on your CD player or MP3 player. While listening make sure to listen closely because you will gain a better understanding of the Bible if you just listen up and that's what you want right?

Discover the Stories Behind the Songs | Posted March-03-2008
Lifestories, the first book by Mark Hall, the lead singer of the popular Christian band Casting Crowns, offers a look into the stories behind the songs from the band's first two albums, Lifesong and Casting Crowns. Read about Hall's struggles with dyslexia and ADD, about a revolutionary from Romania, about a mother who lost her precious daughter Erin, and several other touching stories.

Each chapter ends with "The Godline" and "The Bottom Line." Godlines are the lines in Hall's songs that he believes that only God could have given him. The Bottom Line poses a few challenging questions related to the story behind each chapter. These questions make the reader think about where they are in their relationship with God and other people and challenge the reader to get even farther in those relationships.

Lifestories is a great book that presents how God works in people's lives. It will make the reader cry at times and at others want to praise God. It will challenge the reader to listen to God's voice of truth over the chaotic noises of this world and to worship God with their lives, not just with a short amount of time each week at church. Lifestories shows how every Christian should let their "lifesongs" sing to the Lord.

Whether one is a Casting Crowns fan or not, Lifestories is a great book to pick up because it will challenge the faith of everyone who reads it and bring the reader closer to God.

Amped Up Album, Amped Up Life | Posted January-15-2008
Amped is the third offering from the 116 Clique, a group of rappers signed to Reach Records, a Christian rap label based in Memphis, Tennessee. This album has a sound unlike the label's other albums. Rap is mixed with live instruments, amped-up volume and Christian lyrics to form a fusion of Biblical rap-rock. Amped features three remixes and three new songs by 116 Clique rappers Sho, Trip Lee, Tedashii and Lecrae. Each song brings a different message to the listeners' ears. From "Send Me/Represent", which speaks about the importance of missions and sharing the Christian faith to "The Red Revolution", which speaks about unity among believers, the truth of Scripture is presented. The album is certainly a popular choice, as it peaked at #13 on the iTunes Hip-hop/Rap chart. It is available for $7.99 at Reach Records' online store and various Christian bookstores. With banging beats, rocking instruments and Christ-centered lyrics, Amped is the perfect album for any Christian who loves rap and rock.
