Australian Rock Done Right | Posted September 16, 2008
I have to say that Australian's definitely have a way with music. Is it the accent, or is their love for God, or maybe both. Well whatever it is, I must say that this album has to be one of the best albums from an Australian Christian band.
The album opens with turn, which was their first single (I think) from this album, and it really is a rocky anthem that I can imagine being played at the concerts the boys used to do. This track is definitely an indicator as to whether you will like the rest of the album. The song addresses the fact that we must all 'turn our lives around', which is a key thing for Christians as repentance is the only way back to God.
Track two takes us into a song called Run, another song that was destined to become a hit. Both turn and run were featured on previous PC3 albums, but this is the first time that we've been treated to rock versions (Paul Colman Trio used to focus more on the acoustic side of music - which they excelled at as well!)
From this point in the album, we hear a brilliant mix of both rocky and quiet songs which are all thought provoking, particularly Sun Moon Stars, Fill My Cup, Selfish Song, I Dream and Killing Tree.
The album goes out on the song lullaby, which is a song that was obviously destined to be the final song of the album. It closes with a more acoustic sound that Paul Colman Trio are famous for, and a more traditional Hallelujah section.
So just to finish this review off, if you're into Christian Rock check out the song Turn. If you like Turn, get the whole album.
You won't be disappointed!
